Doggie Fun
The following email was forwarded to me by my mom. I wanted to share it here on my blog. I hope you'll enjoy it I know I did! The pictures are really cute, too! :)

wow :O
How time flies! Anywho, the reason I'm posting this is because I probably won't have as much time to post new stuff as much when school starts again in a few weeks, but, don't worry, I will try to post whenever I get the chance.

Abstract Desktop Background Tutorial for GIMP
Have you ever wanted to know how to make a bright, colourful, creative abstract background for your desktop in GIMP? Well, in this tutorial, I'll give you the steps I would use to make a simple abstract background with GIMP.
Start out by, of course, opening GIMP. Once it has opened, go to File >> New and and insert 1024px for the width, and 768px for the height (or whatever size your computer screen is). Click OK and a new image will open. Just to be on the safe side, go to File >> Save As and save it as a XCF file.
Select the Paintbrush Tool. Begin by making a few wavy lines on the background. The lines don't have to be perfect. Make as many lines as you want, just be sure to leave enough room to fill in some colours. Save your progress.
Create a new transparent layer and name it texture. Click on the Bucket Fill Tool and change the colour to #3f3f3f. Go to Filters >> Artistic >> Clothify and change the settings as follows:
Switch back to the Background Layer and begin filling in the white spaces created with different colours. Include some bright colours, dark colours, neon colours, neutral colours, earth colours, warm colours, etc., Try not to make any two colours the same. Save your progress as you go along.
Last step!! Go to File >> Save As and save your image as a PNG file. And you're done!!
I hope this tutorial was of help to you. I'd like to see your results!! Upload your image to an image hosting website such as tinypic.com and paste your link in the comment box below if you want to show your results to others.

Niagara Falls
We went to Niagara Falls today for my cousin's birthday party. We had lunch at the Rainforest Cafe. It's really cool, it really kind of looks like a jungle/rainforest. There were plastic animals hanging from vines and branches on the ceiling - complete with more animals on the walls and a free shark exhibit. After we went to the Fun House, Movieland Wax Museum, the Believe it or not Museum, and others. The falls were really pretty! It was fun!

Queen Elizabeth in Toronto
I saw Queen Elizabeth (the Queen of England) today at Queen's Park, Toronto, ON! She visited Canada for a little over a week, and I know that she has been to Halifax and Ontario, I am not 100% sure where else she has been, if any.
Today, on July 6th, 2010, my mom, brother, and I woke up at 6:30 am (or at least I did, I know my brother woke up at around 6 am, as he told me), had breakfast, and were on our way to see the Queen of England by 8:30 that morning. We got there at around 9:40, because of traffic (but it wasn't that bad and it didn't last, luckily).
It was a good thing we didn't leave any later than we did, or we wouldn't have found a spot to stand close enough for us to see her that much. But you know how crowds are, stuffy and, well, crowded! Plus it was like 34 degrees Celsius, I think. But what can we do? Not control the weather, that's for sure...Anywho, as you can probably figure out without me telling you, there was a huge crowd.
The Shriners Parade was that afternoon at 1:00 pm, so we went to go see it.
